Beginning My 6th Month on the Challenge!

Well, it's finally here -- the 6th month of my New Black Cultural Diet Challenge!

I feel really good that I have kept focus on all four areas of the NCBD challenge. They are:

1. Body Image
2. Food Selection
3. Food Preparation
4. Exercise and Physical Fitness

Some people said it was going to be tough on me particularly during the summer months and the holidays that occur during the late spring and summer. Quite honestly, it's been easier because I know that I can still eat the foods that I enjoy during the spring and summer yet make modifications in the portion size and select healthier versions of them. The key is just to maintain the same regimen while also experimenting with more variety of foods!!

In particular, I have come across a number of great lower calorie and delicious microwave luncheons from Stouffer's Lean Cuisine! You have to check out their line of new products particularly

  • Ginger Garlic Stir Fry with Chicken - 4g fat - only 290 calories
  • Glazed Chicken - 3.5g fat - only 220 calories
  • Chicken Carbonara - 7g fat - only 270 calories

Additionally, these Stouffer's Lean Cuisines were on special at the grocery store -- 5 for $10.00. Now that's a bargin! I just waited for these Lean Cuisines to go on sale from one grocery store to another (usually they do during the summer) and stock up on them!! I am also trying out a new set of work-out DVDs! Of course, they are Billy Blanks but this particular workout DVDs are called:
